Kristi Beisecker writes: After freelancing in graphic design for 6-9 months I was able to save enough money to live in Greve in Chianti, Italy for four weeks for an artist residency to pursue my electrographic artwork developed in Jeff Hurwitz's Alternative Photography class I took my last semester of senior year. Before this adventure I went to London to visit family and then to Paris, France before I went home. It was an amazing cultural immersion with a side of art. I studied Botany to help make my artwork have more depth and learned about the Tuscan landscape... collected wild herbs to use in art and cooking and met local artists (from the Boston area) as well as international artists. For anyone pursuing an art form seriously, an artist residency is a great way to travel as an artist while pursuing your work!
