MORAVIAN’S ROZTELL NAMED ECAC DIVISION III FIELD ATHELTE OF THE WEEK

CAPE COD, MA --- Senior Kirsten Rotzell (Bangor, PA/Bangor HS) of the Moravian College women’s indoor track & field team has been named the final Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for 2005 for her performance last week.

Rotzell was named the Most Outstanding Performer, for the second time in her career, at the 2005 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships while head coach Doug Pollard earned MAC Coach of the Year honors. Moravian won its tenth straight Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Championship with 150 points at the meet hosted by Susquehanna University last Saturday.

Rotzell won the long jump with a leap of 5.47 meters (17 feet, 11 1/2 inches), and she captured first in the triple jump at 11.23 meters (36 feet, 10 1/4 inches). Both distances are provisional qualifiers for the 2005 NCAA Division Indoor National Championships, and this is the fourth straight year in which Rotzell won both events at the MAC Indoor Championships. Rotzell also finished third in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.49 seconds after running a time of 7.46 seconds in the trials. She was also fourth in the 200-meter dash in 26.80 seconds.

Rotzell will not compete again until the 2005 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships on Friday and Saturday, March 11th and 12th at Illinois Wesleyan College in Bloomington, Illinois.
